Saturday evening and you don’t want to spend your time in the kitchen. thanks to the oven , we can make simple easy casseroles with the ingredients from the home.. While Many believe that the casseroles are heavy food, you can make it light yet not compromise on the taste. Here’s to my experiment where I sued a few steps from different recipes and make a casserole…

Ingredients:

Asparagus – 1 bunch ( I prefer think ones)

Boiled Egg- 2

All purpose flour- 2 tbs

Milk- 1 cup

Cheese- 1/2 cup ( I chose Mozzarella  as I had in the house)

Salt and pepper  per taste

Butter- 2 tbs

Bread Crumbs ( optional)

Steps:

Pre-heat the oven 400 degree

Boil water with a pinch of salt

Add asparagus to the water for 3 min. Take them out with the tongs and cut off the edges as they get soaked and will get soggy . Keep 1 cup water aside

Boil the eggs , cool and peel and slice them into thin slices

Take a deep pan, put butter, once it melts, put the all purpose flour and fry till the raw smell is not there anymore

Add the milk slowly and mix well to make sure there are no lumps.

Now add some cheese

Keep stirring till the water evaporates and a think cream sauce is formed.

Now take the water from the Asparagus and add to the sauce and mix well. This helps in keeping the flavor alive

Take a baking pan I took an oblong plan, layer the cooked asparagus one head to one toe to help accommodate all and to ensure there is not much gap in between.

Sprinkle some salt and pepper on the asparagus

Layer with the sliced Egg and sprinkle with salt and pepper

Pour the sauce over the layered veggie and egg and spread evenly

Sprinkle some cheeses if needed

Spread the bread crumbs

Put it in the oven and bake for 20 min

Insert a knife and if it comes out clean the cooking is done

Now take it out of the oven and let it cook for 3 min and now …..

DIG IN!!!!

Tips:

Use any combination of veggies
